FOUNDER WAG
The founder of our organization, Mrs Kamalam S was a remarkable woman whose compassion and unwavering commitment to helping others left an indelible mark on those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey was a testament to resilience, determination, and an unshakable belief in the power of community and compassion to heal wounds and transform lives. This organization was started in 1993 in the Gangavalli block of Salem district where scheduled caste & scheduled tribe people, especially women are about to lose their lives because of poverty and discrimination. To protect their lives and enhance their livelihood standard, this organization was started by a group of women for the welfare of women and girl children. It is with profound sadness that we remember and honour the life of our beloved founder, Mrs. Kamalam S, who departed from this world in 2020 during the COVID pandemic. Her legacy continues to shine brightly through the work of WAG, the organization she passionately created to uplift the lives of women in need. She may have left this world, but her legacy will forever shine as a beacon of hope and resilience for generations to come
MISSION STATEMENT
Our mission is to transform our vision into a reality. We are committed to empowering women and girls, fostering thriving communities, and erasing inequalities. We work tirelessly to replace suffering with hope and turn despair into boundless opportunities for all.
Our Vision
Our vision is simple yet transformative: To create a world where women and girls are empowered, communities thrive, and inequalities are erased. We dream of a future where hope replaces suffering and despair gives way to opportunity.
TARGET PEOPLE
WAG is mainly focused for the welfare of tribal communities’ women & girls. The tribal community is lacking in all walks of their lives – Fulfiling daily needs, Compulsory & Good Education, Health needs, Hygienic life awareness and in all the sectors. They need supporting hands to lift them. WAG is trying to make them a better life & training them to create a better life by their own.
